• Why we establish this academic community

We are at a time of utter change in the development of the world, from the perspective of economy, technology, geopolitics, or social culture. The evolution from the embedded liberal international order to the neoliberalism system after the World War II has encountered unprecedented challenges in the past decade. The trend towards a multi-polarization world is inevitable, so that globalization to a large extent has to give way to regional development and collaborations. As a result, the Asia-Pacific region, because of its demographic and market trends and geographic importance alike, will become an even more important pole of global growth. We need integrate academic and industrial intellectuals from all walks of life to conduct pioneering research on new trends in the development of the Asia-Pacific region.

  • What research-based contributions we mainly want to make

Although mankind has greatly improved the level of science, technology and labor productivity, today the world is facing serious conflicts of environment, resources, social culture and ideology. Advances in technology and means of communication speed up a series of jarring collisions. We will conduct comprehensive studies of strategic geo-factors in the Asia-Pacific region from the perspectives of political, economic and social policies, and provide more positive suggestions on regional development and governance. We are committed to regional and global research on sustainable development issues.

The Institute provides regular weekly research report and special articles, in addition to a dedicated academic journal, in the expectation of continuous accumulating research results. We look forward to more professionals sharing their views on this platform and jointly promoting the future development of the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

  • Social Sciences in Business and Poicy Analysis (SSBPA)

The interplay between business and public policy has always been symbiotic, shaping and influencing each other in profound ways. As the geopolitical landscape undergoes dramatic transformations, governance becomes increasingly complex for policymakers in countries and regions worldwide. The decisions made by governments have far-reaching consequences for businesses, societies, and individuals, necessitating a deeper understanding of the intricate dynamics at play. Likewise, businesses have a profound impact on public policy through their economic activities, corporate social responsibility, and engagement with various stakeholders.

The challenges we face today demand a multidisciplinary approach that draws from social sciences to analyze and address the complex problems affecting our societies. Housing, food, transportation, consumption, and investment—these fundamental aspects of human life—are inextricably linked to the evolving geopolitical landscape and the growing urgency of environmental sustainability. To navigate the uncertainties brought about by these changes, we firmly believe that social sciences must play a central role in providing insights, ideas, and methodologies to the global academic, political, and business communities.

Social Sciences in Business and Policy Analysis aims to be at the forefront of this transformative journey. Our journal serves as a platform for rigorous scholarly research, thought-provoking analyses, and innovative ideas that bridge the gap between theory and practice. By fostering dialogue and collaboration between academia, policymakers, and business leaders, we aspire to generate actionable knowledge and evidence-based recommendations that can shape public policy, inform business strategies, and contribute to the betterment of society at large.

  • Journal of Global Urban Governance (JGUG)

JGUG is a quarterly periodical offered by the APRDIHK and School of Government, Shenzhen Univesity. Urban governance has emerged as a critical area of research in recent years, as cities have become increasingly important sites of economic, social, and political activity. In particular, scholars and practitioners have focused on the challenges of governing cities in the context of rapid urbanization, demographic change, and globalization. One important area of research has been the governance of metropolitan areas, which are often characterized by complex governance structures, overlapping jurisdictions, and competing interests. Another area of research has been the regional development of cities, which involves collaboration and coordination between different levels of government, civil society organizations, and private actors. The Journal of Global Urban Governance seeks to build on these important research areas by providing a platform for scholars to explore the dynamics of urban governance in a global context. Prof. Keping YU, dean of School of Government, Shenzhen U, acts as Editor-in-Chief of the journal. We warmly welcome contributions from our peers and especially young scholars to the journal.
